Living in obscurity… and yet

“Start by doing what is necessary, then what is possible, and suddenly you are doing the impossible.” St. Francis

Awesome quote, right?  It’s MY motto.  Learn it, live it, love it I say.

The saints can give such strength on tough days; days of uncertainty, dimness and indistinctness.  Recently I have had more of those than I would like.  But, its about Faith isn’t it?

Realizing God doesn’t tell us what he is up to; only that we need to follow, stay in His word, do the good we can each day and be steadfast in our daily lives.

Wow, that’s good.  I’m gonna copy and paste that for next time I feel uncertain.

See, I am a busy mom; not much different from many of you out there.  Each of us has our cross.  I like blending into the world, not standing out.  But as of recently God has challenged me to get outside of my comfort zone.

First,  a little background.....

I am naturally outgoing, an “A” type personality; but most definitely not an entrepreneur.  I was raised in a family business.  It most definitely had benefits, but the stress I watched my parents go through was a constant strain on their relationship.  I love what mom and dad did for us; sacrificed ALWAYS!  They are the best. Even as they are aging; they deserve commendation. They instilled Faith in God, the value of hard work and devoutness to family. They are still warriors for their family.

But being a child PART of a family business is much different that owning one yourself.  In walks my husband a year ago, ” Hey honey, want to sellCommunion breads?”

My life is crazy; homeschooling mom of double digits. So, I’m thinking.  Right, I TOTALLY HAVE TIME for that.  But… his instinct was right.  Providing for his family is his God given right; he takes it very serious.  He knew where he was working was not going to do that. He knew I could help; I would find time.  He knew God would not abandon us…

Psalms 36:5  Your steadfast love, O LORD, extends to the heavens, your faithfulness to the clouds.

Sell it?  I’m not a sales person.   Didn’t expect it… but I assure you with God nothing is impossible to accomplish; even a tough sell like me.

So here’s the crux.  I like living in obscurity.  I don’t want our large family on T.V.  I don’t particularly like attention; although a nice pat on the back for a job well done is appreciated.  Our family ends up being a huge draw point for our clients.

You know… “small Midwest family of 15 begins startup selling Communion breads and incense to the Catholic church. Kids help with marketing and packing while  homeschooling.”

It could have appeal;  that’s the fear and also the prayer.  You know what I’m saying.

But since God inspired my husband; He has led the entire time.  We pray steadily. Quite seriously I NEED GOD LIKE NEVER BEFORE IN MY LIFE.  I know we can do this; but not without some serious supernatural grace.

So each day we balance our funds to get ourselves carefully known, marketing AND selling. Get on the phone, get shot down sometimes. Get printed material out.  We are fortunate, we have an amazing faithful supply chain.  Truly blessed we are.

2 Thessalonians 3:3 But  the Lord is faithful. He will establish you and guard you against  the evil one.

We have had some guardian angels like Fr. Z’s; who has a  wonderful blog and amazing straight forward way of speaking.

Stay tuned to see how our journey to remain in obscurity goes.
